Full Tilt Poker Closes out FTOPS XI

54,053 players sat down to compete in Full Tilt Poker’s eleventh rendition of their online poker series for 15 million in guaranteed prize money.  FTOPS XI was composed of twenty-five events including a wide assortment of poker variations and tournament structures.  

FTOPS XI kicked off on Wednesday February 4th with Event #1 hosted by two-time WSOP bracelet winner Howard Lederer  Event #1 was a no-limit hold’em freeze out tournament with a monster field of 6,275 participants slugging it out for a $1.2 million dollar prize pool. 738 players finished in the money with “John Newcombe” bagging $84,336 for 3rd, “sticky seat” taking home $131,147 for runner-up and “muckducks” banking a whopping $215,512 for his 1st place finish.

The series was off and running.

Event #10 was hosted by John Phan winner of two bracelets during last summer’s 2008 WSOP.  Event #10 was a no-limit hold’em freeze out tournament held on Sunday February 8th with a $300+22 buy-in.  When the cards were in the air, a massive field of 5,325 players competed for the $1.6 million dollar prize pool.  When it was all over, 738 players were paid with “Shoomie” cashing $107,352 for 3rd, “Bustyou79” taking home $166,938 for 2nd place and “Gboro780” claiming $275,600 for an honest day’s work finishing 1st.

Event #12 was hosted Monday, February 12th by Nick Schulman who is currently the youngest player to ever win a WPT title.  Nick was 21 years old when he took down the 2005 World Poker Finals at Foxwoods.  Event #12 was a no-limit hold’em freeze out with a $1000+60 buy-in. 1,630 players battled it out for over $1.6 million in prize money.  162 players finished in the money with “pwnosaurus” booking $164,630 for his 3rd place finish, “SowersUNCC” cashed $221,680 for runner-up and “Zugwat” scooped a huge $350,450 for his 1st place efforts.  

Allen Cunningham, winner of five WSOP bracelets hosted FTOPS Event #22 on Valentine’s Day, Saturday February 14th.  I’m sure Allen’s significant other could hardly wait.  Event #22 was a no-limit hold’em two-day event with a $5000+200 buy-in. 500 players dug in to fight two days for the $2.5 million dollar prize pool.  In the end, “the best woman” took 3rd cashing $281,250 making her man very proud.  Adam “Roothlus” Levy finished runner-up in this marathon for $387,500 and “fyrtuk” finished atop the heap for $625,000.  “fyrtuk” took down the  biggest single payout of the entire series with that win.  

FTOPS XI closed out the series with their two biggest events, Event #24 and the Main Event on Sunday February 15th.

Event #24 was a $120+9 KO no-limit hold’em freeze out tournament hosted by Andy Black. Andy finished 5th in the 2005 WSOP Main Event. FTOPS Event #24 was a behemoth with 9,061 runners going toe to toe for a $906,100 prize pool. After 9,058 knockouts, three were left standing to slug it out for the top three payouts.  “Doglamina” finished 3rd for $54,366, “AAs to QQs” took home $90,610 for a 2nd place finish and “girlyhurly” banked $144,885 for sending the last player to the mat and finishing 1st.

FTOPS XI’s Main Event was a no-limit hold’em freeze out tournament hosted by John Juanda, winner of three WSOP bracelets. At the end of the day or early morning hours, “PartyPimp” cashed $177,643 for his 3rd place effort, “Ka1serfknSoze” scooped $276,245 for runner-up and “csimmsux” took the whole thing down for $456,056 for 1st place.
