WSOP Felt & Satellite Rights Go To Everest Poker
Mar 13, 2008By: Jennifer Newell Everest Poker has entered into an agreement with Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. with regards to the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. On March 5, the online poker site announced that it acquired satellite tournament rights and brand placement on the table-top felt of all WSOP tables. In addition, Everest Poker’s name will be prominently shown on the inner rung of the WSOP feature table, which will end up on ESPN for all of those tables that are filmed.
While Everest Poker already has a reputation as one of the most popular online poker sites, especially in European countries, the exposure from the WSOP agreement will bring the name of the site into the homes of approximately 200 million people. Everest Poker will also be able to send numerous European players to the WSOP through their multiple satellite opportunities, with the ultimate hope of a European player winning the WSOP main event.
Satellites for the 2008 WSOP are already running on Everest Poker. Some of the highlights are as follows:
• Monday nights - $500 + $30 buy-in with one $13,000 WSOP package guaranteed
• Wednesday nights - $200 + $15 with one $7500 WSOP package guaranteed
• Fridays – one $3500 package guaranteed
• Saturdays - $22 + $2 and $5 + $.50 rebuy satellites to win seats into the Wednesday night tournaments
• May 18th – exclusive ladies-only tournament with five seats to the WSOP Ladies World Championship guaranteed
• June 8th – twenty seats to the WSOP main event guaranteed
More details will be released as they become available.
Everest Poker will also be hosting the EPEP – Everest Poker European Party – in Las Vegas during the 2008 WSOP, and entrance is guaranteed to anyone carrying a European passport. The date of the festivities will be announced as the WSOP nears.
