PokerStars continues to lead the way in the online poker industry with the most satellites and the most prize packages being given away to its players for the 2008 World Series of Poker. Having qualified more than 3,600 players for WSOP main events since 2002, adding 1,000 more this year only solidifies PokerStars as the place to be to win.

In the coming months, players will be winning seats daily to the 2008 WSOP, and each will receive a prize package that includes the $10,000 main event buy-in and an extra $2,500 for expenses. Each winner will also be given free hotel accommodations at the Palms Hotel & Casino for eight nights (July 2-9) or a cash alternative of $1,000 to stay elsewhere, and Supernova qualifiers will have their rooms upgraded. Accommodations will be extended if players are still in the main event past July 9th. Shuttle bus service will be provided to the Rio each day as well.

By agreeing to wear the PokerStars logo during play, players who make a TV table will be eligible to receive cash bonuses of up to $50,000. And additional bonuses of up to $1 million will be awarded to players who make the final table of the main event, with the bonus dependant upon the final standings.

Players who wish to qualify directly can enter any number of daily multi-table satellites that are running with $33 buy-ins plus rebuys. There are also $55 quad shootouts, $215 double shootouts, and multi-table tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $475 to $1,050. Satellites are available – also daily – for all of these tournaments and can be entered for as little as $2 plus rebuys.

PokerStars has also set up a six-tier steps satellite program that allows players to start at $7.50 in the first tier. By finishing in first or second place in the single table sit-n-go, the player qualifies to enter the next tier. Making it to the sixth tier guarantees one shot at the $12,500 prize package and an appearance at the 2008 WSOP. Players can also use their Frequent Player Points (FPP’s) to buy in to any number of the satellites running.
