On Sunday, March 9th, the inaugural Online Poker League kicked off on Pacific Poker. Poker Network has partnered with Pacific Poker, the site that is providing the platform, for a series of 12 tournament rounds that will run over the course of six weeks.

The Online Poker League tournaments will take place each Wednesday and Sunday through April 16th, and players will be awarded prizes and points, the latter of which will be tallied to send the top point finishers to a final tournament to be held on April 20th. Those competing in the final event will be the players with the most points from each day’s series and the three overall points finishers.

Events in the series will consist of no-limit hold’em, six-handed, and pot-limit Omaha. Wednesday tournament buy-ins will be set at $20 + $2, and Sundays are set aside for players with larger bankrolls with the ability to buy-in for $50 + $5. Either way, there is something for players at various levels.

The final nine players in the April 20th tournament will play for a seat into the Melbourne Championships’ main event that begins on May 23rd. The seat is worth $1100, but Pacific Poker is offering an entire prize package to go with it, including hotel and flight accommodations, to put the value at $2500. And the chance to win more money at the Melbourne Championships makes the prize worth even more.

Pacific Poker will also be running numerous satellites for the World Poker Crown (WPC) in conjunction with some of the Sunday tournaments in the Online Poker League. The WPC is a $3 million guaranteed tournament that begins online on April 26th and translates into a live tournament with a $1 million first prize.

The Online Poker League is running now, and the schedule is as follows:

Round 1 – Sunday, March 9th - $50 + $5 no-limit, six-handed
Round 2 – Wednesday, March 12th - $20 + $2 no-limit
